Greetings! DemocracyAction has helped win back Congress, promoted Election Reform, helped elect CA Secretary of State Debra Bowen, registered many thousands of voters and walked scores of precincts for the San Francisco Democratic Party. Then in 2008, we helped elect Barack Obama President!

So far, President Obama's efforts towards bi-partisanship have run into a roadblock of unbending "Party of No" Republican strategies in Congress. The Repubs have conveniently forgotten that the economic problems we face are due to their past efforts to deregulate the economy and starve any investments in infrastructure, science and new technology, to say nothing of starting a war while cutting taxes. Their "business as usual" outlook has been voted out by the electorate, but they're trying to stymie President Obama at every turn in an effort to win back Congressional seats in the critical 2010 mid-term elections.

The Health Care Reform victory shows President Obama now understands that while he'll continue inviting bi-partisanship, he must go ahead when its unreciprocated. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has shown her mettle, and now the whole country knows what we in San Francisco know. She's just the most effective Congressperson and Speaker the country could have!

DemocracyAction had formed following the 2004 Presidential elections, and sprang from our commitment to take back our country. Our Mission has been advancing progressive values and helping build the Democratic Party into a majority party in America. We and other like-minded citizens and groups throughout the country helped made that happen. We have stayed true to our Mission of focusing on federal and statewide general elections and on issues of national importance, and supporting like-minded grassroots efforts.

Now it's important to continue the movement that led to Barack Obama's election 1 1/2 years ago. Help the Tea-Party'ers realize that change and building for the future do not threaten--but rather, can improve--the American way of life.
